Approaching Lost

by George Hoerner

I'd been heading
toward lost
my whole life
and it was
a patchwork
of wrong turns
rapidly approaching

lost seems
a destination
with a view
as good as many
and the distance
shrinks with time
yet enough left
to lose my way

after all
how many
wrong turns
can you make
in one life

Yeah, I've been there, too. That last stanza most of all.

It seems an old and ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way. I wonder of there is not a better way...I'll look for you at the "next exit"....good read, Thanks.

this poem is reminiscent of the good shepherd which goes searching for the we lambs who are lost, and admitting we are lost is the beginning of finding our way back, to where ever that back was, which is not necessarily in the fold.

How far do we travel before we realize it was a wrong turn or does it turn into the right one by the vaule of lessons learned? Much to think about here GH and thank you for the write, smh
