A Lesson in Patience by Jessica A Steenbockbeing with you
is a lesson in touching,
in feeling,
and experiencing each moment.
being with you
is a lesson in patience,
in thought,
and ultimate understanding.
i had to tell myself
to be quiet.
to not say i love you,
to just kiss you instead.
i had to act
like it was a joke.
as if it didn't matter.
like the choice for you is so obvious.
but being with you
is a lesson in touching.
a give and take
in each embrace.
because being with you
is a lesson in patience,
and a lesson in self control.
and it's one i wish i didn't have to learn.
