the desert in winter

by Sophia Grace

winter now. we are older,
we understand the importance
of silence. where no snow can fall,
our secrets will betray us.

even still, i must tell you this;

i'm swallowing stars, illuminating
worn-rock caverns, lighting the
passageways to where you could steal
my heart.

I like the idea expressed in the first stanza. Mostly, because I'm pretty sure I've been there myself. Wonderful work.

Nice write lady. You pull the heartstrings and they respond with music. Well done. Let those stars on you and you will be found.

I am a sucker for poems that use a nature metaphor for the inner life. You do it so well with this one. Thanks.
