The Forfeit by Wayne TateTake this with the sincerity these words convey
and do not let this leave your memory;
With love I gave you a heart;
With time I gave you the blade;
The choice has always been yours;
My world has always been yours;
Fear of reprisal is no answer;
Inflict what you wish
but most of all remember;
Let there have been a reason 11/30/2008 Posted on 12/01/2008 Copyright © 2024 Wayne Tate

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 12/01/08 at 03:25 AM I imagine a lot of people would want that, ideally. Heh. Very well done indeed, sir. |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 07/24/09 at 05:37 AM My favorite phrase is: "I gave you the blade." That is a very powerful image to me. Do we not give a blad to those whom we really love - do we not risk injury? Maybe this is what true love is all about - the willingness to hand over that blade. I might steal this idea for a poem, with your permission. |
Posted by Elizabeth Jill on 08/02/09 at 01:10 PM I'm glad I found this gem... after reading Glenn's poem I immediately came here. It is no wonder he was inspired. |
Posted by V. Blake on 08/09/09 at 03:55 PM "With love I gave you a heart / With time I gave you the blade" -- These two lines have got to be among the most powerful I have read on here, and I've read a lot of powerful lines on this site. I'm envious of your ability to craft something that sounds so inherently profound with so few words. |
