a shaggy dog story

by Peter Humphreys

wriggly
raggedly
scruffy
shepherd
chasing cars
for fun
now the mountain
was retired
in mists past
he waits
at the corner
his good eye
to the fore
and as we walked
up to the quay
he always casts
his good eye back
to ensure his new sheep
had not slipped the fold
and him
redundant made

I love this Peter. It reminds me of my dog. Even though he is on a lease and allowed to walk ahead, every few steps he glances over his shoulder as if to see if he is still going in the right direction or if some how I've gotten lost. I love it.

What a fine creature. I love the good eye keeping tabs on everything and you. Thank you.
