"A Winter Dance" (for the Winter Wonderland contest) by Max PhineasFollow the footprints the snow angels make
They'll take you as far as the ice-sculptured lake
Frozen, defined by single-blade lines
Pirouetting and spinning in a moon-dancer's wake
Dizzy designs so delightfully traipse
So trapped in a wonder of welcoming shapes
The insides grow warm at the slow winter storm
As the stars fall in delicate drapes. 11/22/2008 Posted on 11/22/2008 Copyright © 2025 Max Phineas

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 11/23/08 at 05:48 AM Sounds like you've got a pretty good eye for the beauty of winter, eh? Really liked this. |
Posted by Laura Doom on 11/24/08 at 04:59 PM What claimed my attention here was the use of rhythm - variations in meter, with a variety of feet employed, and not detracting from my reading; rather, enhancing the dance experience. I'd wish you luck in the competition, but I'm guessing you won't need to rely on it :) |

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 12/22/08 at 04:56 PM Beautiful! Congrats on POTD! This really expresses what I love about snow - the tracks and patterns that it allows - all beautiful and magical! Thank you. |
