time won't let me by Charlie Morgantime won't let me do too many more things;
already i've been given a Paragon's court.
faces of friends long gone; acquaintances
who passed by me with mouth a-gape in awe.
i've been gifted Normalcy! a life's age;
to be determined by forces, unknowable.
i look up and see Mare's tails in gallop,
carrying the upper winds on to Heaven;
i longingly want to be that Mare, her tail;
visiting the skies, stratosphere, Heaven.
alas my feet need the ground, the Grounding.
i pull all my people around me. Mine, i yell.
and draw a circle in the sand and keep all in;
i breathe when you breathe, i live when you live.
i die when you die.

| Posted by George Hoerner on 11/22/08 at 08:23 PM Good write my friend and many more no doubt. It's the connections isn't it; from birth through life that makes such a difference. I suspect we’ve both been rather lucky. But then some say we make our own luck. I suspect circumstance and how we react to it plays a roll somewhere along the way. |

| Posted by Glenn Currier on 11/23/08 at 06:16 AM I sometimes say that I sure am glad I lived this long. So much more to learn and grow into. Glad I lived at least one more day so I could read your poem. I do sooooo relate to your message. I love the way you link having "life's age" with the circle of your fellow travelers. I think I see some of the same faces AAAAAND some of the horses asses too... all enriching the journey. Thanks, Charlie, for another gem. |
