In His Defense by Ken HarnischJudge me as you will
But these passions are not just transparencies
Nor idle litter blowing in the next convenient
Breeze.
I could not last, as rogue or savior
Without some deep appreciation for
The soul defining all
Of what the body hopes to be
And if it were just glitz that caught my eye,
My heart, my verse
You would see right through all that
We both know, in your life
You have had men come tramping to your door
So caught up in the whirl of what they see
They missed most of what you are.
The day I get like that, you have my permission to
Retire me to pasture with all the other
Sordid, seductive cavaliers
Until then, enjoy the fact
You are divined for who you are
Which now and evermore
Defines the you I see.

Posted by George Hoerner on 11/22/08 at 02:58 PM I'm very appreciative of your dusting this one off. It has a very nice tone to it with a message I fully understand. Nice write. |
