You Own Me by Melissa Arel
Though some men have taken a piece of me
willingly, or selfishly,
I am no less whole because of it.
You own me in ways no one has.
You don't demand my love,
you don't coerce me into unwanted
affections. Not anymore.
I committed my heart years ago;
I gave you my hand and my name
but never meant it more than I do now.
You own me in ways no one could.
