Freefall

by Keith D Allison

The illusions transmit within the mind
the emptiness in the shadows of the short days
gold fading in movement of light yellows
browns in the spectrum of bronze
the long shadows touching the breath of the night
Freefall
Freefall
into the bitter cold night
to know the barren waste
the silence
when dark clouds hide the stars
Freefall
Freefall
the coyotes howl, breaks
the wind flees out of the North
oldbison stands to face the snow
quaking in the cold and snow falls from the carry
Freefall
Freefall

Excellent Keith. But it is survivable. Only in these depths of winter, can we learn that within us there lies an invincible summer. Thanks.

This has all the fire and strength of a determined voice in a long field of darkness, if that's not too pretentious an opinion for you. Loved it.

Love the freefall idea and its repetition. I like that you go inside the mind, immediately processing what some consider to be a long emptiness. Well done.

and miles to go before i sleep.

i love winter, and you capture it here. i wish i could hear coyotes.

You catch what can be the loneliness and seemingly intransigence of winter, but a determined facing of it with survival in mind. There is a psychological level to this as well as Kristina indicated.
