Broken and Mending

by George Hoerner

broken words
may hurt
but can be mended

letters reassembled
positioned correctly
capitalized or not
as needed

up ended
or reversed
to make sense
of these symbols
the meaning
re-established

but body language
is different
a broken
heart
may never mend

Right on George. They say 80 percent of communication is body language...a virtually unretractable medium. The pen is mighty, but only course-correctable to a degree. Great words here though! Thanks.

Damn right, man.

I believe that words are often overrated indeed. Great read, George.

Body language is also very subtle, words can "say" one thing but the body "gut" always tells the truth. Great reading this morning! MFS

As has been stated body language can be very subtle. And can be misinterpreted. Your poetic thoughts stir the brain cells! Word versus Movement! Takes both to communicate well! But too much can be read into body language I think. (I received an email during the campaign that read all kinds of bad things into Mr. Obama's movements. I trashed it though I did not vote for him.)

I value both languages, as I feel neither can exist or can be communicated independent of the other. I believe that body language gives words and words give birth to body language. I feel there is nothing less than symbiosis taking place wherever the two happen to congregate. And so as much mending as can take place in time in whatever it is that is broken, mending does not mean forgetting, as recollection of such as has been broken will always be painful. As usual George your odes are always egging the body to reciprocate with language in the form of commentary.
