harshly imperfect by Emily Davidsoni'm harshly imperfect
and i'm aware, but still,
i'd like to warn you:
i don't look pretty when i wake up,
i don't listen carefully enough,
my lips are usually chapped,
i can think too highly of myself,
my hip bones stick out when you lay me down,
and i am not the girl of your dreams.
but i love you
isn't that enough? 10/19/2004 Author's Note: this is from a collection of old journal entries i'm reviving. this one is from 2004.

Posted by Melissa Arel on 11/13/08 at 01:37 PM your poems are always so poignant and straightforward, but in a nice way. here's another example of your artistic honesty. well done Em. |
