I saw your sweet face across the room
and
instantly crumpled into a ball of harmones and tears.
Wrapping your arms around me you held me tight
and let me weap and moan
over
and
over
as the black mascara smudged your shirt
back onto my face
my cheek
nose
forehead
but you looked into my eyes,
wiped the tears from my cheeks and told me
"You're still beautiful."
you moved the hair from my face sweetly
and gently we kissed our final kisses.
you held me so tight i thought i might die
right there in your arms
"I hate this."
"Me too."
then the seachange came
bittersweetly
you rubbed noses with me
and i poked you the ribs.
we smiled and made fishy faces
at each other.
then we stood held hands,
looked into each others eyes
and we knew
we'd still be friends.
