It's Like That Scene in "Donnie Darko"

by Arianna Woods

The leaves are falling from the ground
To the branches of a tree outside my window
And I'm watching the grandfather clock
In the next room
Slowly winding backward

I guess some things just can't be
Stopped once they get going
But my head is spinning and
My body is in mid-air and I

Don't understand

I'm being unborn

The seasons are changing
From autumn to summer
Summer to spring
It feels like a reverie with my eyes wide open

I can see the needle in my arm
But can't lift the other
To pull it out
And I can see the look on your face
But can't lift your chin
To wipe away your tears

You told me once that you'd

Sleep when you're dead
Well goodnight,
I'll see you when you sleep
