Odie's home by Charlie Morganopening my back door, wide; breezes lap by;
Time's rope-winds lick my face, my dog Odie's
ears and neck hair stands out. Time, a salute.
bowing to the wind, his eyelashes flutter and
blink a dog-some-ness, and he keeps staunch,
his upward stare at me; the benevolent master.
the two day [one month for him] break from each,
broken by my attending a wedding in another town;
no more is he up-rooted, no more is Time a vacuum.
all is well as he yaps and covers the ground, his ground.

| Posted by Alison McKenzie on 11/04/08 at 03:04 AM What a nice homecoming! Don't you love our pets? My dogs greet me so wonderfully every time I'm away, and they "pine" a bit when I'm gone. It's so nice. And they don't care if you're fat or ugly, or ill, or cranky. They just love us!!! We have Keefer, a mostly Rhodesian Ridgeback; and Nina, a blue-heeler/yellow lab mix; and then Miracle, our latest family member, a black-n-white kitty who goes snuzzle-crazy every time I go downstairs to pet her! I'm glad you have Odie!! |
