behind already

by Kristina Woodhill

a poem-a-day and me
without a prompt

no alarm-clock buzz
this morning

but an extra hour
sits with beguiling

elasticity - a freebie
fraction flexing in

my amusement park
mirror - hands floating

sans polish
sans paper
sans pen

eyes on their sides
grow larger, brows

knit as finger bends
toward spastic thumb

an index, an opposable
two ideas cross-wise

trying to point out
their personal requirements

as wingdings cartwheel
and deja-vu sans light

disappears

Great start! I really love the title and how this starts because I forgot too. The prompt Bruce gave is really good and I wish now I'd read it first. Ah well, we can be behind already together. This is excellent. My favorite stanza
"an index, an opposable
two ideas cross-wise
I really look forward to seeing how your theme works itself out. You definitely "Hooked" me!

This is fun and clever - I like how you sneak Daylight Savings Time into it, and the swirl of images that go with being just a little disoriented or disorganized in the morning -love the ending.... d:-)
