What's Next

by George Hoerner

playing blackjack
at eighteen i was no hack
my memory takes me back
to the casino in Vesoul
watching roulette

then Atlantic City
so many casinos
such a pity
so many marinas

i've spent
little time
in Vegas so
i've gone my
merry way
now all i do is
play the internet

i role my dice
with keystrokes
as they've installed
slot machines
on Wall Street

Smiling a wan smile and remembering an excellent graduate level economics professor responding to a student's request for advice for a good investment. He said, "Find a good black jack scheme. Remember, the stock market is a random process."
