always a choice

it’s always the hungry kid
that will eat the soggy potato chip
and
it’ll be the food for his soul
as well as his body.

as we look the world over
for beauty, in the end

we find we needed
to take it with us.

Charlie, I don't know why it has taken so long, but it finally crystallized in my mind a main theme of your poetry. I have known it but now I hear your clear voice for the forgotten, the unacceptable, the powerless. Let's see, were you a carpenter or a carpenter's helper in a previous life?
