Sacred Debut by Alison McKenzieSo light,
I floated there
Beneath the stars and
Night sky,
Naked among new friends
Who did not care
The scars on skin
And needless armor
To keep the safe distance.
For Safety was already there;
So impenetrably surrounded
In love and the dark,
I felt the excess begin to melt away
Before my very eyes,
In the company of witnesses
Holding the sacred space for
My debut.
