Ashton

by Thomas K. Hunt

You’ll have the love that was meant for you
Each day like the sun it will shine on through
This family has been blessed once more
We have a new baby boy to adore

You’re so perfect as perfect can be
A bundle of joy for all to see
Mom and Dad beat in your heart
You’ll be loved from the very start

Ashton, Ashton grow up straight and true blue
Let us fill your heart
Feel it
Feel it
Feel the love, Ashton

Squeeze my finger, take a big yawn
Sleep and eat from dusk to dawn
The day you were born was a world event
I thank the Lord for what heaven has sent

I look to the future with your hand in mine
The love that we’ll share in our hearts and our minds
We are the reason that you are here
We’ll fill your heart year after year

Ashton, Ashton grow up straight and true blue
Let us fill your heart
Feel it
Feel it
Feel the love, Ashton

Princess Lexi will forever be, the first Lady to you and me
Prince Ashton has arrived to share her thrown
But can’t steal her thunder
This is widely known

She has the love that he will receive
She wears it proudly upon her sleeve
Let me impart we have one more to love
Ashton is here from the heavens above

Ashton, Ashton grow up straight and true blue
Let us fill your heart
Feel it
Feel it
Feel the love, Ashton

Congratulations Grammpa! Nothing so wonderful and beautiful to behold and feel that that which you have...the love of a grandchild is sometimes beyond description...but in your poem here you have touched the heart of it.

Oh, the joy of a new wee one invokes intense awareness of the ongoingness of our genetic wellspring. You have expessed the emotionality of that wellspring beautifully.
