Cycle

by George Hoerner

it is evening and i watch
as the sun settles momentarily
on the western ridge of mountains
that shields one side of our valley

with an expert leap the globe
appears to die as it dives
into the Pacific ocean
pulling night across our lives

my mind rushes
to the eastern shore
and waits seeking assurance

time drags as if frozen
then my eyes blink
as the first dim rays penetrate
from beneath the Atlantic waters

suddenly as if gasping for air
the sun rises from the depths
of timeless water freeing itself
to circle once again
through our day

the cycle continues as i persist
taking in one breath at a time
finding shelter where i can
in solitaire, observing,
walking my dog,
a glass of wine,
or best of all
in your arms

Your tenderness is showing, George. :-)

...george, throw away that tenderness,boy!...joking of course, man, george this carries a freight train of wonderment in it...on you last one, i like all that you write, i wrote, keeper...i can't continue to write that, so many of yours are...the cheap word 'lace' will be used by me: this lace w/ sooo many different levels [never leaving the senses and imagination] and to add the compliment of being one with the entire Universe, at the end we hold and appreciate another universe of one, other, thou...wow! heavy and tender, good. especially.

I love the underlying sense of romance in these words. As always, lovely... aloha to you from this side of the Pacific... alisa ;-0

what you set down on paper we all see, my friend, saving we all see it with subtle variations and your version is nay a pox on the senses but curing.

A refreshing description of the stable cycle of the earth around the sun. A touch of intimacy at the end makes it very personal.
