My Man of Many Smiles

by Sandy M. Humphrey

I love a man of many smiles
He has a catalogue of smiles
the nuances though subtle
can tell you what he may be
Thinking and each smile clever
or charming is as endearing
as the first time ever I saw him
Grinning sheepishly at me from
the desk caddy corner to mine in
Fourth hour history trying to be
cool while getting the scoop on
the new girl in town

I have seen his I Did IT smile
when accomplishing a difficult
task or the whoops that did not
go as planned @*&+ grin
I even enjoy his I am only
joking sideways cocky
boyish snicker smile
Because I know I can dish
it as well as take or at
Least I know that now

Yes from the first tender
after kiss smile that said
“This is just as good as I
dreamed it would be“
I have lived and loved for
The many facets of his smiles
and on Groundhog’s day
When I placed our new
grandson in his arms I saw
his grandpa smile and I added
it to the catalogue..

And I knew then there
we had many
More smiles to go

This is sweet Sandy. I'm sure we can all relate to it in our own way.
