Time

by George Hoerner

its edges make my skin crawl
i know i walked into this room
but when has become irrelevant
i'm here now as you are
we can't change that
one of us could leave
but that would solve nothing
as our remaining won't

in an hour i'll leave this room
having accomplished little
i talk you talk and
neither says anything
i talk, and you say hmm
what is it that i have to say
that would be important
to you let alone me
let's see what i can make up

you're not my friend
nor a relative
you are supposed to help me
resolve these continuing issues
or are they problems
'what ever'
i learned that from the kids
oh yes I remember - time

i've never understood it
before, after, here and now
which is important
or is it when i walk
out of this office
that things will be different
i'll know tomorrow may not come
but yesterday will
always be

George, this is so intelligent and logical. I get a sense of "wasted" time here, in that the talking feels useless. But maybe, sometimes, the gems of understanding don't come in the present. Maybe those meetings are more about taking home buckets of what's been dug up in the process. Maybe the gems are discovered later, when you're sifting through the dirt of what was divulged. Of course, maybe I don't know a thing about what might prove to be of value to you while you're in that office, but if there is another way to look at it....at any rate, I love the honesty expressed!

Fascinating study of this time spent with that particular person. I assume this is a councelling session - I could be wrong. A most interesting dynamic with varied results.

Maybe these sessions inspire a realization of the preciousness of your time...perhaps you don't need to go anymore and could take that hour to enjoy a walk in nature or meditate or... MFS

"tomarrow may not come but yesterday will always be" Profound!

'yesterday will always be.' i never thought about that, but it hits hard once it's been said. the lack of punctuation gave me a sense of being out of control.
