Melon-Colored Twilight

by Alison McKenzie

The many voices of Thunder
Seep into awareness,
Pulling me away from the
Call of my technology,
Shards of electric crackle
And the depth of low rumbling
Interrupting modern life
With something more primal,
More solid,
More real than any virtual bi-way
Traveled by the likes of me.

Clouds thick and gray
Hang heavy in gravity churned skies,
Humidity laden skin,
Sticky with the threat of
Rain the size of marbles
Solid plop, smack, plop
Into the vat of human energy,
Cleansing the massive aura
In Divinity’s shower.
Oh that smell of a fresh start!

Just in time the blanket thins,
Comes the orange-red glow
That permeates all layers of existence,
The many planes of the seen and the unseen,
Savoring the sweet scented hues
Of a melon-colored twilight
And Thunder chorus serenade.

Author's Note: It rained and thundered yesterday evening for such a long stretch, lightening flashing the world into awareness. It's one of my favorite ways to experience mother nature!

Please, would you give me time to take a breath? LOL!
This is brilliant too! What - do these things just come floating into your brain, and POW! - another poem?

Absolutely brilliant. The last stanza is a poem all its own. I can see the "melon-colored twilight" and hear the distant "Thunder chorus serenade".

...a hand-clasp w/ the Universe, you and those phenomenae o' the stratosphere and you add the human heart o' vision and appreciation, like the lil' girl walking to school in a lightning storm when asked was she scared? no, she said she just was interrupted a lot on the way to school because God was taking her picture so she stopped and posed for him...a delightful expression of said-same...
