Raw by Kristina Woodhillpaint the aisles
blood red
an extra splash
as the head lolls
oddly on its own
a final spray before
the inner tubing
expels all and collapses
as bits and pieces
are cut and carved away
a head has imploded
a head has imploded
and the bus rolls along
dab cheeks with
white chalk shock
pupils black
pin points
frozen
frozen
place faces at windows
silent screams
pencil swirling lines
around each bus wheel
hands drawn empty
no way to stop
no way to stop
this story has no exit

A man on a bus in Canada stabs a sleeping passenger to death, decapitates him, cuts him up and eats parts - passengers reportedly could or would do nothing to stop it. The man had no record of problems.

Posted by Nanette Bellman on 08/08/08 at 01:43 AM I heard about this this morning. So sad. Great read though.

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 08/08/08 at 12:29 PM ...tho tragic, like nanette says kristina, great succinct[sad statement on the human condition]story from reality...
Posted by George Hoerner on 08/08/08 at 03:20 PM It is all too typical of our lack of involvement with goes on right in front of us. It is almost as if we see so much death and destruction on TV that we become to numb to it or we are just too afraid.
Posted by Don Matley on 08/09/08 at 10:37 PM Powerful poetic comment on a powerful event as if the bus and its passengers were suddenly thrown onto the stage of a Greek Tragedy. I think it happened so fast and in such a confined environment that the passengers could do little. But it begs the question we all might face one day, would we lunge at the hijackers and try to overcome their weapon of fear, surprise and box-cutters. I say I would have acted but will I if ever I am challenged. Your words do justice to such senseless horror.
Posted by Emma Turtle on 10/21/09 at 06:42 PM Such a tragic event but the way you have captured it is very well done, the part that states no one tried to stop it just shows what our society is capable of.
