On the Day of the Death of the King

by Joe Cramer

So soon, the day will come

Once again, as always before

And I will be fifty-one

As Elvis stands in the door.

I look for a difference

Yet all remains the same

I know that the time comes fast

For me to make such a change.

As the heat of August rolls on

Roaming far and wide, lingering,

Never knowing what is truly beyond

On the day of the death of the King.

"The King is dead - long live the King!" Isn't that the phrase? It's your turn now...
