almost 48

by Mary Frances Spencer

on the edge
of the middle
age a lake
still unclear

stone steps time
a bridge across
moments to now

i float
tumbled tossed
a leaf on time
turning seasons
under
flowering halfway into
sunset

That special point in life aptly expressed MF. Growing into middle age didn't hit me (unexpectedly) until I turned 44. I reached 50 last year, and am simply thankful I made it this far. Live long and prosper my friend. :o)

Ah, MFS it's a piece of cake to be 48. Send me a note when you reach 68. That is if I'm still around. Have a great one. Open that bottle and think of me. Cheers!!!

There isn't anything I think I can say that will convince you of anything beyond how you actually feel about it...LOL! But I will tell you this: The day you were born is DEFINITELY a day to be celebrated, because the world is infused with more goodness, more light, more compassion, more wisdom because you made it!!!!! So, personally, I'm quite grateful for another marker that says, "Mary-Frances is here!!!!!"
