I'll See You There, Singing!

by Alison McKenzie

Find your place in the parade, darling!
It isn’t that it’s passing you by,
It’s that it’s time to find where you belong,
Waving the peace sign,
Or dancing with the clowns,
Riding the rodeo horses,
Or carrying the sign for animal rights,
The library float,
Teaching the youngsters to dream,
Or the Shriner’s members,
Or the Bikers with their
Teddy bears.

It’s time for you to join this life
And all that it has to offer,
And everywhere it will take you,
Everywhere you will lend yourself
To the fray of it,
Everywhere you will jump in and
Swim for it,
Everywhere your dreams
Can be seen laughing.
Sweet love,
That is your place in the parade,
And I will cheer you on
Every time we march.
