Early Morning by Alison McKenzieThe early morning brings the most relief
With the coolest breezes
And the easy dreaming
Of twighlight fade.
Save me a spot just there
Forever serene in the peace of it.
Cleansing breath of a new beginning,
Memory-slate wiped clean
For just the tip of that moment,
Ill slip quietly back into my body,
Awakened by the hand of a gentle dawn
To soothe away yesterdays ache.
07/23/2008 Author's Note: I'm looking forward to a good night's rest, and those early morning hours just as the sun is peeking over the horizon.

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 07/24/08 at 12:57 PM ...ali, in the seventies, Melanie Sofka sang a song called "Baby Day"...the essence of a morning was what she was calling the baby day. since then i've loved that concept and that's why you love a morning so much, it's freshness, it's renewing effect on our affect [if you will] and so good to see these words...the day is bettered with you in it. |
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 07/24/08 at 02:57 PM I'm in love with that second stanza! |
Posted by George Hoerner on 07/24/08 at 03:13 PM Oh yes, that time of awakening when the mind just barely recognizes itself and natures sights and sounds just tease us into rising with expectations. Well done lady. |
Posted by A. Paige White on 07/24/08 at 06:16 PM Chaz said it so well, just let me add to all (and especially) his last words after [if you will]...
