Why Summer is not my favorite season (haiku)

by Sandy M. Humphrey

water maybe dark
danger lurks not clearly seen
wading in knee deep

sunshine invites me
to lazily linger here
to nap is to burn

tis sweet summer night
when cooled by starry moonlight
till mosquitos bite

Thanks for the reminders of why summer isn't my favourite season (fall is actually) Sandy. I especially like the ominous tone of the first one; alligators immediately come to mind, and the other two for their wry humour. Kudos!

I really liked the playfulness of this! I do love summer... fortunately mosquitoes do not like me! I am inspired to write about a summer night now.

That first verse is especially poignant here, Sandy..we've lost four people just last week to dangerous riptides off our beaches...I don't hate the summer...but i do provide it a wary respect
