Why Summer is not my favorite season (haiku) by Sandy M. Humphreywater maybe dark
danger lurks not clearly seen
wading in knee deep
sunshine invites me
to lazily linger here
to nap is to burn
tis sweet summer night
when cooled by starry moonlight
till mosquitos bite 07/22/2008 Posted on 07/22/2008 Copyright © 2025 Sandy M. Humphrey

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 07/23/08 at 04:56 PM Thanks for the reminders of why summer isn't my favourite season (fall is actually) Sandy. I especially like the ominous tone of the first one; alligators immediately come to mind, and the other two for their wry humour. Kudos! |
Posted by Laurie Blum on 07/29/08 at 03:34 AM I really liked the playfulness of this! I do love summer... fortunately mosquitoes do not like me! I am inspired to write about a summer night now. |

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 08/03/08 at 05:25 AM That first verse is especially poignant here, Sandy..we've lost four people just last week to dangerous riptides off our beaches...I don't hate the summer...but i do provide it a wary respect |
