promises, promises

by Charlie Morgan

our vibes made us smile;
she owned her feelings,
a wide grin let them show.

as the fifty feet of air-space
closed to 2 feet, we both sighed.
knowing that soon we'd be one.

the day became ours; we frolicked.
we waltzed. we walked barefoot,
kicking loose soft, thin thistles.

then i closed my daydream's book,
she had not noticed i carried one;
she held tight a book of broken promises.

I love it when you let us peek into that book. I still have one, too...I sneak to write in it these days. Hehe.

I hold tight a book of broken promises but have let loose some of the very weathered pages turned oft by my dreamer from time to time, funny how dreamers and the broken ones often recognize that little spark of something in each others eyes and the healing begins, well told and illustrated here. smh.

This had me smiling, but that last line put a whole other spin on the daydreamin' and the two of you. Reminds me I have a book or two I could discard.
