I Am So Much More by Melissa Arel
I have dreams of travelling the world -
Ireland, Italy, England, Spain, France..
Soaking in the different cultures and languages
Partaking of their food and their lives,
Creating history. Memories.
Stories to pass onto my grandchildren.
I am so much more than what I do.
My heart and mind yearn for adventure -
They stretch far past the asphalted driveway,
Way beyond the crack-infested sidewalk.
More than the suburban housewife that I am
and deeper still to make my mark in history.
To simply be me.
I want to live my life with no regrets,
To see my dreams fulfilled.
07/11/2008 Author's Note: So its not really that great. Its more like thoughts than a poem.
I'm not saying that I don't like to be a mom or wife. I do. I love my family & I am so thankful for them ♥ I just feel sometimes like I can be so much more. I have this yearning inside me to make my mark- not to be famous or anything like that, but for myself. I don't want to live a life of woulda-coulda-shoulda. I don't want to look back at my years of existence and wish it would've been different. Thats why everyday I am trying to be the best person I can.. and I'd really just love to live out my dreams. I've already started w/my photography biz, next is travelling the world! :)

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 07/12/08 at 06:13 AM Nothing wrong with dreaming...it's the first step towards doing. Hold on to the vision; visions have a way of becoming crystallized through their persistence. |

Posted by Michael Defries on 12/26/09 at 04:47 AM We all want this. We all want to see our dreams become reality. Thank you for reminding us that we once dreamed to live fully without regret. All we need to do is remember that we are what we believe we are. Anything is possible as long as we believe! Deciding we'll do it eliminates all doubt. I hope it's not too preachy I am affirming your poem by wanting to be more too. It's a daily struggle. |
