"i'm going to be a great movie star someday." by Meghan Helmichthere must be comfort in this pink cotton,
lace slips and crinoline pulling wanton
stares. foolish men, faces turned taut,
expectant eyes through lenses, taking shots.
shuttering affection making a life
with a white-roomed mother - into a youthful wife
(who walked alone down the braided aisle).
flooding sheets with desperate reds, over tile
and champagne architecture. a woman, incomplete
with another empty womb, swallows bitter, white defeat. 10/07/2004 Author's Note: my love, my marilyn. (revised 6/27/08)
