A Little Sun

by Alison McKenzie

I knew a flower,
Though, as seasons go,
Brevity of
Joy and bright.

I knew a flower,
For a day, maybe two,
The sweet scent of
Soothing my soul,
Caress of blessing
In the coming heat of summer.

I knew a flower,
A little sun,
A dainty sip of water,
Simple needs surrounded
By the selfish complexities
Of human creatures
Whose gait is a thoughtless trample.

I knew a flower,
And the loss of it
Reaches deep inside
Where weeping lives
And rage.

...ali, i am speechless, gawsh, what a poesy way to say such heavy, in-depth-personal-stuff[that anyone]i.e. : anyone can 'see' of feel if they can stay with the hunt, if you will...gal, this is soooo Everyman, one size fits all, i languish in the shadow of your words...charlie

I languish with Charlie - trying to smell the hint of that scent - to see the sun on those pedals - to avoid the pain of the trampling. Delightful and creative piece.

Yes, sadness and RAGE both come to heart. This is very well done...so delicate and soft, and ends with a hard twist, that seemingly deceitful nature that is twisting you inside...all the irony and dualism. All the contradictions and paradoxes in which we have no choice, still we rage and cry. Very nice Alison :-)
