Journey To Infinity by Don Matley
No doubt just as all of you have done
I sat down and looked upon the stars
Bewildered at the sight and much beyond my intellectual will
I was also moved to ponder, to wax metaphysical.
This myriad of glistening silvery points
Like distant puzzle-dots in the black sky
Moved me to wonder if you joined them
Would these lines respond to the question "Why"
But so many options were out there to see
That of course how impossible it would be
To diagram the puzzle that resolves infinity.
Oh how we are of infinite insignificance
As we stare above
While strangers could be looking down
On us as jewels in some other crown
And if we are the kings and queens
Assigned to rule this little realm called Earth
We have much to learn and many miles to travel
To make peace and love rule over all the land
We might as well try to count all the stars or every grain of sand
And yet I will continue to keep my head up high
Just in case I ever solve that puzzle-board "why".

| Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 05/25/08 at 02:16 AM I have difficulty finding words to describe the feelings I have after reading this, except to say this poem worked on a spiritual level for me; a powerful reminder that we are all significant pieces of that puzzle-board. Thanks for posting this Don. |
| Posted by George Hoerner on 05/25/08 at 03:26 PM Nice write Don! Infinity it not so difficult to understand. Just look inside the little circle called zero. The two are twins and nothing is as it seems. I'm not sure we deserve the earth and we may well parish as those huge hulks that once roamed this world. But some where else life does or will exist someday. |
