Ready To Go

by Don Matley

I've balanced life's books
Paid all the bills
Honored all debts
Told those I love that I really do
Kept the dislike of others from turning to hate
I'm ready to go

I don't want to retrace any of my tracks
What I did is done, cannot go back
Resentments, sure I've had a few
And yes there are deeds I would undo
But all in all I leave without guilt
I'll let better souls assess what I built
I'm ready to go.

My absence may hurt some and evoke a few fears
But such a goodbye should carry no baggage for tears
As I board the mighty vessel
That will rock upon the wavy clouds
As I gladly meet my Maker and cast away the shroud.
Elvis has left the building.

The big sleep never better glorified. Amen, yes let it come for it's time and place.
