1. imagine the rose

by Kathleen Wilson

imagine the rose petals
wither and fall
into a bowl back home
count the days
until our return

Author's Note: posted from Shanghai, China. We just got here! I left some drying roses from a poet friend to let their petals fall while we are gone. Wrote that on the plane.

Isn't it great to know nature-as-artist is at work while you are away. Have a great trip. Thanks.

Wow, Kathie! Beautiful poem. How close is Shanghai to the epicenter? Let us know how things are. I saw the news this morning (guess you can tell my mental world map is quite vague as to chinese geography) and was horrified. I would be fascinated to hear what you find, maybe in your journal? Please have a safe trip.

Where are you now, Kathleen? I love the gesture of the falling petals as time promising your return.
