one more day by Morgan D Hafeleone more day, one more day
she screams violence my way
one more day, one more day
and i pray, yes i pray
that my fear will go away
this is life. and you get what you give, but you never give all you got. i'm just the same and i always have lame excuses. like i should have been born in a different time, but it's never changed. people would slaughter their children for convenience, and those who would drink their blood can never have enough.
one more day, one more day
i pass silent on my way
one more day, one more day
and i pray, yes i pray
that my fear will go away
i used to pray for days when my life, my words, my presence would make a difference. but i am america. i am apathy. i'm free to speek, but words are empty with no action. listening closely, but with no example. I forgot what action was.
one more day, one more day
she screams violence my way
one more day, one more day
and i pray, yes i pray
that my fear will go away 12/31/2007 Author's Note: we seem to define our lives by the 5 days between the weekend... and if that's living, then we're all wasted... aren't we?

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 05/05/08 at 02:53 PM ...gawd morgan, just this morning, after graduating 300+ yesterday from college, i was asking myself why i felt today a tad differently than friday, or saturday...even that day in the seventh grade, and yet it is day to day to day to day...and like this it's redundancy over and over...good write, existentially painful, but so is mother earth's death in about 5 billion years...oh well, peace, charlie |

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 06/04/08 at 09:26 PM Fortunately I define myself by both the week and weekend, each feeding and balancing out the other. I love your poem though for its lyricism; would be great put to guitar. :o) |
