[Library] First Impression by Nikki RiceShe leaned across the aisle
and whispered,
"I don't feel like being here today."
This was my opportunity;
I'd been waiting for her
to speak to me for weeks.
As the words formed on my lips,
I silently begged God
to let this be a beginning
and not an isolated incident.
I could smell a hundred other
bodies' pre-summer sweat,
surrounding us, suffocating us
(the olfactory soundtrack
of this beautiful moment).
It's time. It's time. It's time.
I inhaled deeply, then replied...
"Me either." 04/16/2008 Posted on 04/16/2008 Copyright © 2024 Nikki Rice
