A Book by Anita MacThere's something about
giving up on the day early,
even knowing
such resignation only
secures its continuation
until I can safely
lock myself away
in my little one-bedroom
with my cat.
But at least people are nicer,
my face being what it is.

Posted by Chris Sorrenti on 04/15/08 at 10:58 PM I like how this is packed with wisdom and irony for such a short poem. Well done; adds to favourites. |

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 04/24/08 at 02:58 AM ...anita, i was left wordless after reading this and being taken on a wonderful ride of metaphor and barbara's memory is right-on w/ mine, it wasn't until after college that i found the love for/of reading...such a void is filled by alone-time, to love our cats, dogs, books, inner self...etc...including your face looking out at me looking in...do you know guile? charlie |
