in the heat

by Kathleen Wilson

in the heat of feeling
I walk into the lotus garden
soothed by the sight
of water on a lotus leaf
I sip my tea
wait for the bloom
and think of you

An exotic and serene scene you have painted with your words! Lovely and calming.

A lovely scene in this lotus garden. You have created calm and patience and anticipation.

What gentleness and tender observation. Just beautiful, Kath. Thanks.

"soothed by the sight/of water on the lotus leaf" is the perfect touch, it is those surprising little things often overlooked that can turn out to be sort of revelatory, the way they can re-focus an otherwise ordinary day and re-centre the self... a heady, lovely poem.

The vision of you sitting in this lush garden, contemplating the simple but elegant peace of the lotus - lovely Kathleen!
