Quaver

by Alison McKenzie

Something about the way my
Hands-free headset
Rests on my computer table
Nauseates me
I am fascinated by the phenomenon
I don’t make a move to adjust it
I simply observe it as it
Leers
Taunts
Becomes a foul-mouthed heckler
In some language I don’t speak at all

There are days when it all strikes me this way
Some inanimate object or random phrase
Juxtaposes itself onto my reality
And I’m thrown for a loop
For just a minute
Until I right it somehow
Continue on with my day
As if there was never a glitch at all

And I wonder if I will ever wake up

Author's Note: Just something weird...lol. Plus, I needed a poem that starts with the letter "q". After that, I only need titles with "x" and "z" and there will be a title that starts with every letter of the alphabet!!!
