no good pome

by Charlie Morgan

i don't write no bad pomes.
all pomes are good.
some pomes are gooder.
some stink though.

they all laugh
back at me.

i found a smart one,
undusted a dumb one too
hiding it's title.
most pomes talk a lot
some about broke hearts,
or about a coyotes' moon,
one's a prairie dog town
on vacation, bags in tow.

i know of this one pome,
a gooder one, that spoke
of a mouse in his pome
and finding his way out.
i laughed, a gooder one.
and it's about a mouse.

That first stanza just...kicks so much ass.

this made me crack up and smile and wince a bit all for the fact that i taught in south carolina last year and the reality of my high schoolers presenting a poem worded just as this isn't at all a farce. definitely playful and subtly smart though...hiding your intelligence behind the tricky ignorance. good times chaz!

I really like your approach here Charlie. An entertaining read to be sure. :o)
