change me

by Emily Tong

Would you change me from who I’ve been lately?
Because I’ve tried being perfect, tried on
Honesty, tried being everything but me.
And the more I gain, I loose, more it dawns
That I should just let it go. It took seasons
To realize each waits for the other.
In the here of the manmade sky, reason
Leaves; again I ask, change me. The other
Person leaves with reason and everything
Makes sense. The one I was, gone; tides drop
As the moon’s grip eases from me - a ring
Of light now awakens, and with this hope
Comes life. For I, living for myself found
Only death. Now change, regard is what surrounds.
