to Bob Dylan

by Kitty Ness

golden Malibu fog
have you found out
who you are yet,
or on the wicked shores
do you still wonder?

something in the sky
calls to you as it falls
only you can hear
and move to catch it

follow it and fold it up
in your dark sad mind
and eventually it turns
to something hard enough
for the raving outside world

you show them
what you've found
on your sorry prophet's path
and from it they take
what they think they understand
and leave the rest

they criticize and praise
but can't tell you what it means
that's left for you alone
there on the disappearing shoreline

so in dreams seduce me
and make your mellow moves
keep looking around for messages
and giving them away

the hills of Malibu
will never leave you

Hi Kitty. I enjoyed this, and love Dylan. What you've written here seem even more apropo given Dylan's own comment that: "An artist must be careful to never think he has arrived somewhere, he must always be in a constant state of becoming." Thanks for this.

what a tribute, girly...this is a potent piece, with depth and imagery, honor and reality...the poetry flows effortlessly from one stanza to the next, like walking on clouds...especially loved the opening address, "golden Malibu fog" and also "that's left for you alone/ there on the disappearing shoreline"...I think Dylan would be proud ;) ...peace, jewels

Awesome. And it's not just the Dylan geek in me saying that. Heh.
