That Beautiful Night

by Ken Harnisch

Oh to lay with you
All night and touch you
Where I did not in our fevers.

To put my fingers on your soul,
And my lips against your aspirations

To reach the shadows and curves of your secret
Longings, and knowing them,
Be aroused every time we embrace

And you, when you reach for me,
Realize at last that my love for you
Was always greater than my loving of you

Like you,
I long for that beautiful night
