There's Nothing Like Holding On To The Past

by Amy Wustrin

I know I'm not on your mind
But I Hope you didn't forget me
I try to let go of the past
But my stubborn old heart just won't let me

I knew when I looked in your eyes
That I would be falling forever
And I hoped and I wished and I dreamt and I prayed
That somehow we'd end up together

But our timing never was quite right
And many years have come and gone
And even though I love you still
I'm sure by now that you've moved on

I wish that I could say the same
I know this is pathetic
But you're the boy who stole my heart
And this void in my chest won't let me forget it

I know we can't go back again
I wish it wasn't true
The hardest thing I've ever done
Was say goodbye to you

Still I wonder, foolishly
If there might come a day
When I will finally have the chance
To say the things I need to say

Author's Note: yes, john mayer, i hear you. i hear you all day long, and you're staring to convince me. you better be right. it really better be "better to say too much than never to say what you need to say again."
