Rembrandt and van Gogh at Midnight

by Leonard M Hawkes

Why, I don't know,
But sometimes
I forget the Beauty
I have Known.

And in my greed,
My loneliness,
That emptiness
Of darkened heart;

A scrap of Melody,
A word of Light,
A glimpse of Art,
And my soul Knows--

Truth,
Order,
Peace,
And God.

Lovely bit of introspection.
