will these feelings linger? by Carissa DeweyHere I am
walking with this river
as nature sleeps
in this mid-afternoon storm,
these snowflakes
without voice
quiet, still.
I walk the border of the river
whos movement
can not be ignored,
the sound vibrating off each
sinking snowflake.
I feel the rivers course and
all of its changing
shoreline:
a rock high
a wall, decorated with
small icicles, begging to
reclaim the water
below.
some knowing creature's
moments old paw prints,
writing some foreign
language soon to be lost
in this snow.
a walk bridge
ahead, offering a
different point of view.
and as I speed up my pace
swallowing these small
instances, I dont feel so
alone.
I am of this river, a course it
surely is unaware of
and of these ever changing
moments.
