sequestered bower

by Kathleen Wilson

he sends his words
into a fragile
blue-black silence

positive of negative
his velvet night
her wings

in his nested embrace
she becomes
a mirror cabinet

a plaything of shooting stars
her body his map
of constellations

he feeds the bird
his vision
with his song

Author's Note: inspired by the works of Joseph Cornell (a composite)

Cannot for the life of me locate the work which has inspried your art here (was it an untitled, subtitled work I wonder). But I will say this, you lead down a path I can well imagine."Plaything od shooting stars" is delightful. And I like the whole of this very much. Thanks.

Looking through his works (those available) I can see this as a composite of his art. The nested embrace makes me think of his shadow boxes, the use of birds many times in his works. I love the "mirrored cabinet". This really flows beautifully.

"his velvet night her wings" is a song unto itself. This is gorgeous in the presentation of a oneness for which all poets surely yearn. My pick for potd.

each stanza contains such vivid imagery. "blue-black silence", "velvet night", "mirror cabinet", "a plaything of shooting stars", the final stanza in its entirety. beautiful.
